Dave and I have had a pretty good day so far. |
|
This morning, we visited with the folks for a little while before they left town. They're working a karaoke show this weekend, interestingly enough.. it's a two day camping trip (WITH) karaoke. There's a cookout and everything. They invited us to tag along, but there really isn't enough room in their camper for four adults and two dogs.. so the fur-siblings and Dave and I stayed home. They asked us if we minded dog sitting, and of course, we didn't. The dogs have claimed us as co-owners at this point anyway, so it's as natural as anything else in this house. |

We normally don't go to the gym two days in a row, but we went again today. It was deserted as usual, but locked today too. Typically, the rule is.. if you're the last one to leave, you lock the door. I don't know if someone was even in there today though, it's been so quiet around the place the last couple weeks. We used our key and let ourselves in. I have to say.. it was a funny, and entertaining workout with just Dave and I. I was singing along with my IPOD pretty loudly. There are some pretty great acoustics in an empty gym, lol. Dave was being silly. We took our time, and probably spent two hours there working out and goofing around. It was great, (except for me being half wounded with jammed fingers and trying to lift weights at the same time, lol. If possible, my fingers hurt more today than they didn't yesterday. Battle injuries, I guess). It was a lot of fun though, just the two of us. It was just like we always dreamed it would be.. working out in our weight room in our very first home. |

When we got home we saw one of Wayne's sons hanging around the house. He was next door begging for money. He swooped down on Dave and I very much like the prey we became. He went into his story of how he had promised these people a ride home, and how he ran out of gas along the way. One glance toward the car told us he definitely did have a car full of people with him. I didn't bother to go check the gas gage, but I felt sorry for him anyway. Robert is schizophrenic, and on a lot of medication, and doesn't always make the best decisions, true.. but he seemed like he was in a tough spot, shaking visibly, and worried about not looking like an idiot in front of his friends. He asked for just enough money for gas to get back to Clinton. (We were in Clinton already, but I didn't point that out). I know it isn't anywhere near the same thing.. but I just kept thinking about Dave and how it sounds when he gets confused sometimes.. and that I would hope someone would help him if he were ever in the same situation. I barely have enough gas money for myself these days, or food or anything else for that matter.. but I wanted to help all the same. I gave him a few dollars, he thanked me, and said God Bless you.. and drove away. Right or wrong, good or bad, I helped him.. this time. |

I called Mom and Wayne to tell them about it. I guess Robert has been asking his Dad for gas money for quite some time now, and in an effort to teach him to be a little more responsible with his assistance money, his father tells him No. It makes perfect sense, and next time, I'm sure I'll do the same.. but I didn't know about his history of asking for help, so.. maybe I'm too nice. Or maybe I was there when he needed someone. Either way.. I chose to give him a few dollars to get wherever it was he was headed. Hopefully, he got there. |

Dave got a couple birthday cards today.. one of those awesome song playing ones from Aunt Sue and Uncle Wayne.. and a really spectacular one from my Dad. It had a medal of valor on the front and inside it said Dave was being awarded the medal for his exceptional picking of a wife.. and Oh yeah.. Happy Birthday too. Heh.. it made me giggle. (Thanks Dad, lol). Thank You both. We're very lucky to have such awesome, and thoughtful family, that's for sure. Dave's Mom called today though.. and Dave had to remind his own mother that it was his birthday this week. (No, we're not surprised.. this is nothing new. No gifts, no sage words of advice or wisdom.. no cause for concern. It's just another day). |

We fixed some aging leftovers for dinner and watched another video rental. We picked this one up ourselves last night off the cheapie rental rack. It was called El Orfanato, and was in Spanish, with subtitles. Dave and I aren't afraid to "read" our movies if they sound interesting enough. It was actually a really good film, truth be told. If you like supernatural thrillers, I recommend it. We just have showers, and solitaire and speech exercises waiting for us the rest of the night, but I'm definitely okay with that. The house is so quiet, save for the frequent barking of the fur-siblings. They tend to want to bark at everything these days. It won't be long until Dave's loudly reciting his speech therapy homework though. That should fill the silence. Especially when he starts practicing this week's song, (Mac, The Knife), lol. Anyway.. thank you all for joining us again this evening, and until next time.. Much Love, Many Hugs, and Good Night to you All. |
