Summer heat and Water Fights..
I would have assumed that the waters would have gone down throughout a day of no rain, but somehow, the waters have only risen. We were cut off from the world for awhile again today. It's probably responsible for a pretty crummy yard sale day today. In total, we had seven people come to shop at our sale today, and most of those were kids without pocket money. Everything went half price at noon, but since no one came after noon, no one knew it. We made about twenty bucks before we decided to call it quits and pack it up. It took a couple solid hours to box up everything we had left, and tarp it all up in the flatbed trailer out front.
There's a guy around the corner from us having his sale again next weekend. Mom's taking a gamble, but she wants to set our stuff out one more day this Friday and see if we can't get a little bit more before we find a salvation army to re-home the rest. If there are any toys left though, those are going to the hospital children's ward to brighten a couple days for them, if we can.
It was a pretty blah kind of day sitting around in the ninety-six degree heat waiting for someone to come. At least the company was good. I don't know how many water bottle fights broke out between Mom and I as were sat around sweltering in the sun, lol. Wayne had to work until nine o'clock tonight, because he was filling and placing sandbags with his air guard unit. He's supposed to be off tomorrow, but they need him at seven in the morning to pick up where they left off tonight. He's exhausted, but he knows it's what he's got to do, so he doesn't complain.
Mom and Dave and I splurged on Mexican tonight, as a reward for working so hard on the yard sale this weekend. After our dinner out, Mom and I split a hundred and sixty dollars down the middle, and felt pretty okay with that. It could have been better, but under the circumstances.. it could have been much, much worse. (We really did have a lot to overcome with the whole natural disaster thing springing up in the middle. It would be so nice if we could sell a little more come next Friday, but even if we don't.. it has been worth the effort. Keep your fingers crossed for us though.
Everyone is absolutely worn out tonight, so I think we're going to call it a day a little earlier tonight. Thank You for joining us again this evening, and until next time.. Much Love, Many Hugs, and Good Night to You All.
