When September Ends..
I was on the phone with Dr. Lalonde this morning, running through the checklist of everything that needs to happen before we're able to see him. I've been working through it line by line, and we're almost there. Aside from getting Dave's teeth cleaned next Monday, and getting Dave registered with the clinic, (a multi-step process I've been working on), we're nearly finished. Finally, after six miserable months of weeding through red tape, and paperwork.. Dave has his appointment with the prosthedontist. Dr. Lalonde had ONE available appointment slot in the next three months, and that was August 4th. He asked me if we were available, but it didn't matter. Whether we had plans or not, we'd make it to that appointment, somehow.
Elaine was pleased to hear about our appointment today in speech therapy. If only her supervisors were as willing to work with us, as Elaine is. If only our insurance provider was as willing to let her keep working with us. We found out today that Elaine had to fight with the insurance company this week to get Dave a couple more months of therapy. Come October, they'll be kicking him out the door, and he'll have to rely on practicing what he's been given up til now. I'm concerned at this point though.. even if continuous, monotonous practice could help him in the future, (and it might not), there won't be anyone giving him homework assignments anymore, and I'm just hoping we'll be able to stick with it. It's so hard to stick with these exercises now, and I'm sure that will just get worse as time goes on, and results slow even more. October is a couple months away though. I'm just going to try not to think about it until then.
Mom and Wayne are home again, and enjoyed their trip immensely. It's nice to have them back. The rest of the day has been pretty quiet. The folks are hardly ever home, but on the go ALL the time, so it's just us again tonight. Dave is working on speech homework, and currently driving me batty singing his song for the week at top volume, lol. Other than showers, and miscellaneous show watching and computer games, the night is young. I'm feeling pretty tired though.. so we might just have to call it a night early. Thank You so much for joining us this evening, and until next time.. Much Love, Many Hugs, and Good Night to You All.
