My Fierce Protector.. |
|
A good night's sleep seemed to do a lot to improve the gloominess that had settled in around here since Charlie's visit last night. Walking down this particular memory lane proved to be difficult on Mom, Dave and I all three. Mom was so sweet today though. She proposed we all hop in the van and splurge on a Dairy Queen blizzard. Mom bought one for each of us, including Wayne, and we sat down by the river eating ice cream and watching the ducks and geese play in the high water. Chatting with the family over a sweet DQ treat really went a long way to lighten the mood. |

It's amazing how far the waters have receded in a week of little to no rain. It's still high around the edges of the city, but at least it's out of most yards now, thankfully. |

Tina came to pick Dalton up pretty early this morning. She tried to pay me for watching him, but I wouldn't take her money. She doesn't pay Mom when she asks "Grandma" to watch him, so I don't think it should be any different when Aunt Amy is watching him. It was just the right thing to do. Before she left she came over to give me a hug. I was sitting in my computer chair, putting on my shoes and Dinky was laying at my feet. We were both pretty surprised when he growled and barked at her and she raised her arms for that hug. It might have scared her a little bit, but personally, I think it's adorable that Dinky's gotten SO very protective of me since we've been here. He's such a sweet dog, and never growls at anyone.. unless someone comes too close to Mom or I and he gets a bad feeling about it, lol. |

So fierce.. in an "I'll be your best friend if you pet me" kind of way. |

We spent most of the day watching Mom and Wayne work outside. They were tinkering with the Harley and the mini-choppers they have. They were also cleaning out the trailer, preparing for a big trip they having coming up in a couple weeks. There's a big bike event the third week of July, and they'll be gone for a few days. They're very excited about it. Dave and I are on dog sitting detail. |

I came across my inhaler tonight. It had gotten stuck in one of the dresser drawers. Oh yeah! I had actually almost forgotten about it. When I got to thinking about it, I realized that it's been about three weeks since I went to the doctor for breathing troubles and using my inhaler upwards of five times a day some days. Ever since I've been using this daily dust inhalant, (which I highly doubted in the beginning was going to help me a bit), surprisingly.. helps me a great deal. I haven't used my inhaler once the last three weeks. I can't even believe the magnitude of that statement, for me. It's actually kind of nice, and I'm more than a little relieved that this stuff seems to work so well. I hope it lasts. |

We were sitting here digesting after dinner tonight, and Dave is always lulled into a drowsy mood when he eats, and just wants to go back to bed. He tries to combat the slurred speech he gets when he's tired with coffee. He said he was going to get a cup, and I said okay. I don't worry about him getting his own coffee because for some reason, he insists on warm tap water and two scoops of instant coffee, and it's pretty harm free. He was in the kitchen for ten minutes before he came back and sat down beside me again. He didn't have any coffee in his hand. Where's your coffee, I asked him? He had forgotten about coffee all together. He smiled and got up and was gone another ten minutes but at least came back with coffee this time. Dave will laugh, and he actually get a kick out of moments like this. It's probably a very good thing he doesn't let it bother him.. but it always worries me enough for the two of us. |

It's been a pretty okay day today, all things considered. Thank You for joining us tonight, and until next time, Much Love, Many Hugs, and Good Night to You All. |
