While the Folks are Away.. |
|
It's been two days since the folks left for their trip. They've already called home more than a dozen time because Dave told them they had to. He worries, lol. We've already called them twice to help locate things we needed, and quickly. The dogs know they're gone because they've escaped from the back yard twice already. We hunted them down the first time. The neighbor happened to be outside the second time and carted Dinky back home. They're being quite obnoxious while their parents are out of town, let me tell you. I don't know what we ever did before the age of cellphones, but it's pretty handy to be separate, yet together. |

Dave's mom called again this afternoon. She calls about five times a week now, just to drive us out of our ever-lovin minds. She inadvertently helps me once in awhile though. If I'm ever feeling down about the shape of my life these days.. defending it to her always helps remind me what I'm most grateful for. |

Dave and I had our brain injury support group meeting tonight. It had been two months since the last one. (The last one was canceled due to all the flooding in the area). There were only five people there tonight, which was a bummer, but we got to see Karol and Bruce, and it had been awhile. It was so nice to catch up with them. Karol and I always like to relate wifely stories of our dear ones, and see who has the funniest one of the month. I thought I had it when I told her all about Dave falling out of bed and skinning his knees and elbows while looking for the dog, but she totally trumped me with her story of Bruce trying to make his own toast for breakfast and Karol coming into the kitchen to find a beautifully buttered and jellied whole zucchini. Eh, maybe I'll get her next month, lol. |

We decided to do our grocery shopping in the city tonight, since we were there already. It was almost like the old days, being in a larger area, and having the selection to match it. Dave was in Heaven with all the different choices of rice, and generic cereals, (our staples after the great food-stamp fraud debacle a few months back). |

Sometimes, I worry that when I get my glider loved ones back I won't remember what I'm doing anymore. I decided it shouldn't be a problem tonight, since I couldn't walk through the produce section without looking for their food, and I couldn't walk by the toy section without looking to see if there were any suitable toys to bring home for them. I had to smile at that. I laughed out loud though when Dave said my thoughts for me. "Hhmm, can I make a glider toy out of this?" He always teases me, lol. I guess you can't un-do ten years of being a glider mommy in just a single year away. I browsed the stuffed animal section. I was excited to hear they were going to have the neopets plushies at WalMarts now instead of just Target which is so far away from us. Unfortunately, it seems they'll just be at "select" stores, and the WalMarts here.. weren't selected. Ah well, it's probably for the best anyway. since they're not in my budget right now. |

The rest of the night will be spent on speech therapy homework, showers, and some online entertainment in the form of House, or Bones I'm sure. Dave is really starting to get addicted to the both of them, and I don't mind a bit. Thank You so much for joining us this evening, and until next time, Much Love, Many Hugs, and Good Night to You All. |
